Lykkers, our recent journey to Strbacki Buk, a hidden gem in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the heart of Una National Park, this breathtaking waterfall destination offered us an adventure filled with natural beauty and local flavors.

Here’s a glimpse into our incredible experience and what you can expect when visiting this stunning locale.

Chasing Waterfalls

Our trip to Strbacki Buk began with a visit to its most iconic feature—the majestic waterfalls. Strbacki Buk is renowned for its powerful cascades and striking scenery. We visited the falls on a sunny day, which made the turquoise waters shimmer even more brightly.

The park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with an entrance fee of BAM 10 ($5.50) per person. The falls, which tumble dramatically into the Una River, create a mesmerizing display of nature’s raw power.

We spent several hours hiking the well-maintained trails that meander around the falls. The paths offer numerous vantage points and viewpoints, allowing us to capture stunning photos of the waterfalls and the lush, verdant surroundings. For a more immersive experience, we also took a boat tour along the Una River, which provided a different perspective of the falls and the surrounding landscape.

Local Gastronomy

After our exploration, we were eager to taste some local Bosnian cuisine. We found a delightful spot called “Restoran Una,” situated near the entrance to the park. This charming restaurant specializes in traditional dishes, and their grilled trout was a standout.

The trout, fresh and perfectly seasoned, was served with a side of roasted vegetables and cost BAM 25 ($14). We also enjoyed a hearty serving of “Grill Platter,” featuring an assortment of grilled meats and vegetables, priced at BAM 30 ($17). The meal was both flavorful and satisfying, making it a perfect end to our day of adventure.

Another favorite was “Kafana Una,” a cozy eatery known for its delicious comfort food. We sampled “Sogan-dolma,” which are onions stuffed with a savory mixture of minced meat and rice, priced at BAM 20 ($11). The warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall experience, making it a memorable dining choice.

Lykkers, strbacki Buk is a treasure trove of natural wonders and local charm. From the awe-inspiring waterfalls to the delectable Bosnian cuisine, our visit was filled with unforgettable moments. Whether you’re exploring the scenic trails, enjoying a relaxing boat tour, or indulging in local delicacies, Strbacki Buk offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Our time here left us with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for Bosnia’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
