We recently embarked on an unforgettable trip to Neist Point Lighthouse, located on the rugged western coast of the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

This iconic lighthouse offered us a blend of dramatic landscapes, rich history, and breathtaking vistas that made our visit truly memorable.

As we arrived at Neist Point, the weather was quintessentially Scottish—dramatic clouds and a brisk breeze set the stage for our adventure. The lighthouse, perched atop a sheer cliff overlooking the turbulent Atlantic Ocean, immediately captured our attention. We spent a moment just absorbing the sheer grandeur of the location.

We decided to take the scenic walk down to the lighthouse, which is a must-do for any visitor. The walk, though slightly steep and challenging, rewarded us with some of the most stunning views we’ve ever experienced. The path meanders through rugged terrain, offering spectacular views of the coastline and ocean waves crashing against the cliffs. It took us about 30 minutes to reach the lighthouse, and the effort was well worth it.

Once at the lighthouse, we admired its classic white and black design. While the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, the surrounding area provides ample opportunities for exploration and photography. The views from the cliffs are nothing short of breathtaking, and we spent a long time marveling at the sight of seabirds soaring below and the endless expanse of ocean stretching out before us.

There is no entry fee to access the lighthouse grounds, making it a fantastic budget-friendly destination. The nearest facilities are in the nearby village of Glendale, where we found charming local cafes and shops to round off our day.

For a comfortable stay, we recommend checking out accommodations in Portree, about a 45-minute drive from Neist Point. Portree offers a range of options from cozy B&Bs to charming inns. Nearby attractions include the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr, both of which offer incredible hikes and scenic views.
