As travel enthusiasts always on the lookout for breathtaking experiences, we recently had the pleasure of visiting one of the most iconic landmarks: the Europa Bridge, or "Europabrücke" in German.

This marvel of modern engineering and natural beauty proved to be an unforgettable adventure.

Architectural Marvel and Scenic Beauty

The Europa Bridge is a majestic suspension bridge that spans the stunning Sill Valley. Completed in 1963, it holds the record for the highest bridge in Europe, with its towering spans reaching 192 meters above the valley floor. The sheer scale of the bridge is awe-inspiring, making it a must-see for anyone with a penchant for architectural feats or dramatic landscapes.

Planning Your Visit

Our journey began with a leisurely drive through the picturesque South Tyrolean countryside, eventually arriving at the bridge. Located near the A13 motorway, it’s conveniently accessible for both local travelers and those exploring the region. The bridge itself is a marvel of engineering and is best appreciated from the viewing platform on the nearby hillside.

For those planning a visit, the Europa Bridge doesn’t have official opening hours as it is a public structure. However, we recommend visiting during daylight hours to fully appreciate the sweeping vistas of the surrounding valley. There’s no entrance fee for viewing the bridge, making it an excellent budget-friendly outing. For the most striking photographs, aim for early morning or late afternoon when the light casts beautiful shadows and highlights.

Nearby Attractions and Scenic Hikes

Adjacent to the Europa Bridge, we discovered the delightful Hotel Stubai, a cozy retreat nestled in the nearby Stubai Valley. This charming hotel offers a comfortable stay with a rustic yet modern design, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

With rates starting around €150 per night for a double room, it provides a more affordable alternative while still offering stunning views and easy access to the bridge. The hotel features an inviting spa area and a restaurant serving delicious regional cuisine, making it a perfect place to relax after a day of exploration.

Our visit to the Europa Bridge also led us to nearby attractions worth exploring. We took a scenic hike through the Sill Valley, enjoying the lush greenery and the calming sound of flowing water. The trail provided several vantage points for capturing memorable photos of the bridge against the backdrop of towering peaks.

Lykkers, our trip to the Europa Bridge was a delightful blend of engineering marvel and natural beauty. Whether you’re an architecture aficionado, a nature lover, or simply in search of a picturesque day trip, the Europa Bridge offers an experience that is both unique and memorable.

Combining this with a stay at the luxurious Hotel Interalpen ensures a trip filled with comfort and stunning views.
