Hey Lykkers! We recently embarked on an enchanting journey to Latham Windmill, and we couldn’t wait to share our experience with you.

From stunning views to delightful local cuisine, this hidden gem has everything for a perfect getaway.

The Majestic Latham Windmill

As we approached Latham Windmill, the sight was simply breathtaking. This historic windmill, standing tall against the skyline, dates back to the early 19th century and is a beautiful reminder of our agricultural past. We took a leisurely stroll around the grounds, soaking in the picturesque landscape that surrounds it.

Attractions: The windmill itself is the main attraction, but don’t miss the surrounding gardens, which are ideal for a picnic or a quiet moment of reflection. The inside of the windmill is open to visitors during guided tours, where we learned about its history and how it operates. The tours run from 10 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, with a small entrance fee of $5 per person.

Nearby Accommodations

For those looking to extend their stay, we found a delightful little hotel just a stone’s throw away from the windmill: The Windmill Inn. With its cozy ambiance and rustic decor, it felt like a home away from home. The rates were quite reasonable, starting at $120 per night, which included breakfast. We particularly enjoyed their homemade pastries and fresh coffee, a perfect start to our mornings!

Culinary Delights in Latham

No trip is complete without indulging in the local cuisine, and Latham did not disappoint! After our windmill tour, we wandered into a charming café called The Grain & Hearth. We couldn’t resist trying their signature dish: the Windmill Burger, made from locally sourced meat and served with sweet potato fries. Priced at around $15, it was filling and utterly delicious.

For a sweet treat, we sampled the café’s homemade apple pie, which was the perfect way to wrap up our meal at just $5 a slice. The warm, inviting atmosphere of the café made it a wonderful place to relax after our adventures.

Exploring the Surrounding Area

If you have extra time, we highly recommend exploring the nearby trails. The nature walks around Latham offer stunning views of the countryside and are perfect for a leisurely hike or a bike ride. We spent a lovely afternoon wandering through the woods, marveling at the vibrant foliage and listening to the cheerful sounds of nature.

Our visit to Latham Windmill was a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With its rich history, beautiful scenery, and welcoming community, it’s a destination we’ll cherish for years to come. So, if you’re looking for a charming getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend a trip to this picturesque spot. We can’t wait to hear about your adventures if you decide to go!
