The Pacific Ocean owes its name to the renowned Portuguese navigator and explorer, Magellan. In 1520, Magellan embarked on a historic voyage that led him to the vast expanse of waters off the western coast of the Americas. Struck by the serene tranquility of these waters, he christened them the Pacific Ocean.


Comprising a staggering 97% of the Earth's water, the oceans are the lifeblood of our planet.
