Dolomites

Spots to Go

1. Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Perhaps the most iconic vista in the Dolomites, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks of Lavaredo) is a striking trio of gigantic rock formations jutting into the sky.

These massive dolomite towers soar over 2,700 meters (8,900 feet) and are surrounded by green alpine meadows dotted with vibrant wildflowers in summer. A popular hiking circuit leads around the base, allowing you to admire the three peaks from all angles against a backdrop of azure skies.

2. Lake Braies

Like something out of a fairytale, Lake Braies is a brilliant emerald-green lake embraced by dramatic peaks and dense pine forests. Reflecting the lush scenery in its mirrorlike waters, it's one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. A well-marked trail loops around the lakeshore, letting you soak in the serene ambiance. Visit early morning for the calmest conditions and the best chance of capturing that iconic first light on the still waters.

3. Seceda Ridge

For some of the most jaw-dropping mountain panoramas in the Dolomites, head to the Seceda Ridge. Accessible by a cable car that transports you above the clouds, these outcropping rocks offer sweeping views across dozens of jagged limestone peaks, with the striking Odle Peaks as the star of the show. Time your visit for sunset and you'll be treated to a magnificent alpenglow as the sun fades behind the craggy summits.
