If you're visiting Avignon, don't miss the Palais des Papes. We stayed near this impressive medieval Gothic building, which is one of Europe's most significant.
<b>Helpful Tip:</b> Parking in Avignon can be tricky, so go straight to the Palais des Papes parking structure just outside the city walls. It's affordable and convenient.
It gets hot in the summer, and the parking structure lacks ventilation. Remember to bring your parking ticket with you; many hotels can validate it for you.
Whether you're into grand architecture or history, take a tour of the palace—it's the largest Gothic fortress in the world. Tickets start at €16.50, and there are various tour options available.
<h3>2. Pont Du Gard Aqueduct</h3>
It's a 30-minute drive from Avignon. Built in the 1st century AD, the Pont du Gard is one of the best-preserved Roman structures in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Bring a swimsuit and grab some groceries for a picnic dinner, then head to the Pont Du Gard aqueduct for sunset. It’s France's most visited ancient monument, and entry costs €8.50 per adult, including parking.
